PEER PRESSURE!!! I gave in to Pioneering during August...I feel dirty...
by stuckinarut2 inok, i'll admit it...i am weak.... as everyone knows, the pressure to "pioneer" during "the most momentous, awesome, amazing, centenary anniversay of jesus invisble kigdom rule, & distribute tracts about a dodgy website" campaign is very strong at the moment.... also, many will have read my threads about the extreme views and expectations in our cong for "all appointed men to pioneer" etc..... every elder and ms and their families have been announced as pioneering....i mean everyone's name was read out except mine..... i was not going to do it, as i do not believe anyone should be forced...(and of course its the last thing on earth i would rather do anyway since learning ttatt).
but i am not quite ready to make the break yet, so i realised that i would stand out more if i didnt put in a form to pioneer.
yes it would make me more conspicious, and make fading harder to do...it would bring more heat on me if i didnt pioneer.. so i gave in and submitted a form.... now, of course, i'm only going to make sure i'm seen at the key field service groups etc...but then go and do something more interesting...like count blades of grass..... ahh....i feel hypocritical to myself now......

Ah. Just show up for the morning group, claim to have a couple calls to do, and head out for your 10:30 tee time at your favourite course. August is too nice to waste sweating into your suit clothes knocking on doors and bothering people.

If You Can Get Out Of The Jehovah's Witness Religion---DO IT!
by minimus ini realize some people feel they can't just leave the religion.
they have family, friends, position.. some elders mistakenly believe that they might be able to reform the cult from within.
the truth is, the religion is never really going to change.

So let me put it out to my fellow JWNers.
I woke up early 2012. Took my time, devouring all info I could about why and how to leave this religion. I hide nothing from my wife, who knows exactly how I feel. She remains on the sidelines for fear of losing family and friends, and as a result has done no research about anything non-JW. She doesn't want to be a JW without me per se, but puts out relationship above all else. We have very few close JW friends nearby, we go to maybe one meeting a month and she goes maybe 2 hrs/month in service.
My question: is it better for me to continue loosely affiliated, hoping she starts to research? Do I push the issue more? Or do I quit going altogether, lose my one remaining (good) JW friend and hopefully pushing her hand? Is the potential gain in intellectual honesty with myself worth the potential fallout with my wife?

Checkmate WT!
by ILoveTTATT inas a lot of you know, i am making a catalog of all the articles and quotes that the wt used to make the creation book.
i want to see all the quotes for myself, if possible.. i went to my university today, and i got some more books.. checkmate, wt!
i can now check every single quote, almost without regard to how obscure or rare the book is!.

Woah! That. Is. Awesome what you're doing. So you can show the dishonest quotation in the creation book? Is that it?

Silence after stating my confusion about "144,000"
by tidalblitz inthe other night, i was told about a question that a friend's bible study had asked them.
the bible study asked: "if jesus is perfect, why does he need the 144,000 to help him rule?
" this friend does not know how to answer this question.

I don't think that's quite accurate per current JW doctrine. The particular cutoff in time no longer applies. The 144k are just "chosen" at some point in life. Proof of this would be the 49 something GB member

They continue to drop like flies
by suavojr inyes, the jws continue to bleed their young ones, so far in my local kh 3 were dfd, one girl just turned 18 this month and packed her bags and said goodbye to the cult and her cultish parents, another young 18 year old man decided to have a non-jw girlfriend and decided to stop attending and is no longer a witness.
they continue to leave and wt leaders dont give a damn.
they dont do anything to help kids be successful and live a healthy life.. .

Captain Obvious
Well they DO give a damn. Thats why we see the youth-aimed videos and such being ramped up. They're trying to lock them in early as possible.
Show me a talk by Tony Morris in the last few years that hasn't included the strong encouragement to be baptized at 13 or 14.

A precious gift to all from Jehovah (channelled via Focus)
by Focus insome souls here may feel i was a little harsh.
if so, i am deeply sorry.
i was abused by a handful right from the start, presumably on the basis of the avatar picture (and 2001 vintage).. when visiting dubland, i often find that others start fights with me - for whatever reason, and i provide quite a supply of them - and when it doesn't quite go the way they expected, they cry persecution.

Very interesting idea... Very curious.
EdenOne, you're right in saying that most of us don't care about getting any money. I don't care if their cash gets piled up and burned, long as they don't have it anymore. Once they cannot function, and their god won't save the WT, many eyes will open. They will claim persecution sure, but once they don't recover... They will see that Jehovah does NOT provide.

Why Do Certain "Inactive Ones" Get Bothered By The Elders While Others Don't?
by minimus init seems some inactive ones and active jws are hardly ever bothered by the elders while others are constantly called, checked up on, etc...... what gives?.

Captain Obvious
Good question!
It also must depend on how involved the person was before they learned TTATT. Personally, I never commented, never had any "priveledges" and average svc time was 3-5 hrs/mo. So not a big loss. Also, I have no family within 1000 miles of where I live. Once I quit, I got one shep visit and that's it.
What about kids? Could they make a difference in how hard the elders hound the fader?
